As per the new restrictions (currently valid till November 17), everyone should avoid taking public transport. However, trips that cannot be avoided can be carried out. Remember to keep a distance on buses and trains. Skånetrafiken provides the following advice:
Wait for the next bus or train if it is full
Avoid travelling during rush hour
Spread out and keep your distance, especially while embarking and disembarking.
Now, to help commuters plan their travel better, Skånetrafiken has launched a live map in which not only can you see where a bus or train is in real-time, but also how many seats are available onboard. This service works on those buses and trains which have automatic passenger billing. It is not available on the Öresund trains which do not have automatic passenger count.
The map is placed below. You can also view it on the Skånetrafiken website here.
HOW DO I INTERPRET THE MAP?
On the buses and commuter trains, a bar with four fields can be seen that can show green, yellow or red.
Buses
If less than 25 per cent of the seats are occupied, a green field is displayed.
If there are between 26 and 50 per cent occupied seats, two green fields are displayed.
If between 51 and 75 per cent of the seats are occupied, two green and one yellow field are displayed.
Finally, it will display a red field if there are 76 per cent or more occupied seats.
Passenger trains
If less than 20 per cent of the seats are occupied, a green field is displayed.
If there are between 21 and 40 per cent occupied seats, two green fields are displayed.
If between 41 and 60 per cent of the seats are occupied, two green and one yellow field are displayed.
Finally, it will display a red field if 61 per cent or more seats are occupied.
ERRORS AND FEEDBACK
Skånetrafiken highlights that since the service is new and is continuously tested, it might have errors and shortcomings. Have feedback? Here you can fill in a short form with your comments.
Please remember that vacant seats can change quickly if many people get on and off at a stop. The service is currently not available on the Skånetrafiken app. Read more about the map on Skånetrafiken's website.
